24/11/2019 – Guinness PRO14 Communications – Disciplinary Decision – Toa Halafihi

Toa Halafihi of Benetton Rugby faced a Judiciary Panel today, Tuesday, December 24 via Videoconference to consider the Citing Complaint made against him for an incident that occurred on Saturday, 21 December in the Guinness PRO14 Round 8 fixture with Zebre Rugby Club.
The incident occurred in the 48th minute of the game at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi, Parma. The Citing Commissioner deemed the player to have committed an act of foul play against an opponent Jamie Elliot (No 11) of Zebre Rugby Club.
The player had been cited for Law 9.12: A player must not physically or verbally abuse anyone. Physical abuse includes, but is not limited to, biting, punching, contact with the eye or eye area, striking with any part of the arm (including stiff-arm tackles), shoulder, head or knee(s), stamping, trampling, tripping or kicking.
The Judicial Officer concluded that an act of foul play had occurred and that the Player’s actions warranted a Red Card.
The Player has been banned for a period of three weeks and will be free to play from midnight on January 13, 2020.
